From a distance butterflies look so beautiful and gorgeous, but I won’t
lie, they kind of scare me. Yes their metamorphosis is a great symbol of change
and growth but let’s break it down, they’re just bugs with prettier wings.
That, and the last time I wore anything with butterflies on it was when those mini butterfly clips were all the rage. All the “cool” people wore them in their hair (I feel like I’ve just dated myself) and other than Mariah Carey’s Butterfly CD (which was flop in my opinion) I retired butterflies to little girls.
Perhaps I have been converted by the butterfly effect as this dress has
made its way into my closet…Then again probably not.
What I am Wearing:
Dress: Bought in Little Italy (Toronto) during their street Festival June 16, 2012
Shoes: BCBG
Belt: Banana Republic
Cardi: Old Navy
Jewellery: Necklace - COACH
Rose Shaped Ring - Foxy Jewellery
The dress looks lovely!!

I love this whole outfit! I love the Marilyn style picture :) Oh and it never really dawned on me that butterflies are just bugs with prettier wings....I'm grossed out now. haha
ReplyDeleteYou are radiating summer in this ensemble girl! Love the layers of the dress. I agree, butterflies can be hit and miss but this is def a hit. As for Mariah, she redeemed herself with The Emancipation of Mimi. That is a good album. In my opinion.

Love your dress, it's so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but laugh at this post, Nini - I remember butterfly clips! I had more of them than I could possibly count. And butterfly tanktops, and earrings, and dresses... I still definitely wasn't a "cool" girl, but I did try ;) This dress is a far cry from the butterfly emblazoned accessories I used to wear. I just love the fullness of the skirt and the soft colour palette.

I am the girl who loves going into butterfly houses and hopes that the butterflies land on her. I just find them so beautiful and interesting!

Haha, bugs with prettier wings...I can sort of tolerate them but only after I've swatted at them for scaring me! Then once I realize it's a butterfly, then I'll be like oh okay...kinda like lady bugs too...they get a free pass!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this dress is BEAUUUUTIFUL! Love the flirty, feminine, girlie vibe and the lace peaking out from beneath is just so pretty!

Absolutely stunning dress and how neat that you got it at a Little Italy street festival! I have a butterfly dress that I have scheduled to post next week! :) I love butterflies (I even have the trademark tramp stamp of one on my lower back!) I am a little creeped out by dragonflies, after seeing that 'Dragonfly" thriller movie!
ReplyDeleteI love how your broke down what a butterfly really is, haha awesome. You find the most beautiful pieces in markets. I love the lace peeking out from the bottom of your dress and the fullness of the skirt. Don't even get me started on the shoes (you didn't mention what a steal they were!) The twirling picture is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteI need to find your blog...
