Last October, I ran my first half marathon as a challenge for my body and to do something I have never really enjoyed - running. But that feeling of running alongside so many others, the feeling of accomplishment made me realise that anything is impossible.
I learned quickly that its all about the right pair of shoes that helps with shock absorptions, especially with all that pounding of the pavement. The first thing I did was find the most colourful pair of shoes out there (and of course made for my feet) the Asics Tri Noosa 8. I have to say I am in love. The'yre as light as air on my feet and so far no issues!
One thing I have noticed on my long runs is that my shins and claves seem to seize up. I have learned that this does not just affect me, but something that a lot of athletes triathletes have been dealing with. After reading about Compression Socks on Dine N Dash Runners, I invested in a pair of Pro Compression socks. Basically, compressions socks help with blood flow, especially in the lower limbs where blood pools (gravity). What hasn't been proven is whether or not compression socks work well during a run or after it...I still have to test both theories out.
What I do know is that the compressions socks while worn on a short run did feel tight and when my cool shoes were removed, I noticed a few blisters. Granted it could have been caused by my new kicks, I definitely prefer a thicker sock to run in for cushioning. Has anyone encounters this with compressions socks?

Do people wear compression socks under a thicker pair?
I am loving my shoes but not sure if I am in love with compression socks. Do you wear compression socks? How do you use them?

I don't wear compression socks but I think it's common to get blisters from them the first few times you wear them, at least that seems to happen a lot on the running blogs I read.
ReplyDeleteShoe fit is SO important, I recommend going to the running room and having them asses your gait - they tell you what to look for in a shoe according to how you run.
As for calves being tight, stretching helps but my experience has been my calves bother me if I increase my mileage too quickly. Just my 2 cents!!

I love your shoes!!! They are so hot! I can't wait to see them in action.
ReplyDeleteI find the compression socks a bit thin for me too. I am debating trying out the compression sleeves so I can wear my own socks but I don't know if my vanity can take it! :)
Those shoes are AMAZING. I don't run, so I have never used compression socks, haha. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm following you now and would love it if you'd like to follow me back! :)

My husband is a runner and he's very picky about the choice of his shoes and socks. Asics is his favourite brand!

The colors will sure look great on you! I wear compression socks in any of my trainer shoes, they add a secure and comfort feel for walking and intensive activities
ReplyDeletethose are some bright, fun sneakers!
ReplyDeleteThose sneakers are amazing, such fun! Hmmm I haven't heard of compression socks but my best friend is a runner and her b-day is coming up...
ReplyDelete"Do you wear compression socks? How do you use them? "
ReplyDeleteYep I do, and I totally love it. It prevents blisters as well as I feel so comfortable using it. I guess, the reason that your compression socks are not great is that the size and brand is not compatible with your feet. You can try Drymax or CEP compression socks cause they are both good brands. As for me I often buy my compression socks online at Legs Therapy ( http://www.legstherapy.com/fitness-and-mobility/activity/running.html ) for more choices of brands, colors and sizes that will really fit me. :)
Cathy thank you so much for the info! I have to ask do you find compression socks to be thin? With the brands you recommended? What are your thoughts on just a compression cuff?
DeleteThanks again!
Those shoes are fantastic! Love the colors and I've been looking for a new pair...I've heard that asics are great for runners. Thanks for the review!

I used to be a regular runner, but I was unfortunately permanenty sidelined a few years ago due to foot problems that date back to my dance days. When I did run, I was lucky enough not to need compression socks. I did get a lot of special running equipment from the Nike outlet, though, so maybe that's somewhere to try; their staff were always very knowledgeable.

I got very cute pair of black knee high zip up high heeled boots as
ReplyDeletea Christmas gift, the left fits totally fine but my right calf is bigger
and I can't zip them up all the way... and I have the perfect outfit..i get compression socks and it helps me to fit right calf as well.

I have one spot on my left shin/calf that hurts every time I run so I've been meaning to look into getting a pair of compression socks, but I'm not sure if I want to spend the money. I usually double up my regular socks if all my running socks are dirty, so try just doubling up a thin like ankle pair over the compression socks, maybe?
ReplyDeleteThese are really very very cute!

I LOVE those colourful running shoes!! Just looking down as you run must make you happy :)
ReplyDeleteI've been investing in Asics for years and they have been my favourites.
I'm definitely not enough of a runner to comment on the functionality of socks or shoes, but I'm always interested by Asics designs. Kinda weird and quirky (especially with all the colours), yet still great!
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Sabrina
I'm really in need of some new runners actually! Usually I do Mizuno but Asics work for me every now and then - will have to check these out! Love the colours!
